

A medical evaluation at Sharp Hospital begins with an interview with the physician that coordinates the program. According to the instructions of the physician, the patient will take one of the 2 types of check ups, they include laboratory work and X-rays among others. Medical evaluations are frequent during the first years of our lives; however as adults we might think they are unnecessary so the risks increase. If you are 40 years old or younger, we recommend a revision every 3 years, if you are between 40 and 50 years old the check up should be every 2 years, and if you are older that 50 you should get an annual check up.

Here are some recommendations for you to be prepared before your medical evaluation:
Before Your Check Up1.The day before your medical evaluation, you will have to get sample recipients from the lab reception, one for urine sample and another for stool sample. 2. You will have to fast 14 hours before you get blood work done to avoid abnormal lipid results. 3. Try to sleep calmly the night before your medical evaluation. 4. Do not smoke, drink alcoholic beverages or take drugs when fasting. 5. If you practice a sport regularly, it is very important to continue practicing until a day before your check up, to ensure a more accurate result of your actual physical condition. 6. If you feel any discomfort, please reschedule your appointment for another day. 7. On the day of your check up you should wear light sport clothes like sweat pants or shorts, t-shirt and tennis shoes. |
When You Arrive at the Hospital1. Address yourself to the laboratory reception where you will hand-over the recipients with the samples. 2. You will be accompanied by a nurse to the doctor´s office for your first interview where the doctor will do a complete physical evaluation and create your clinic history. 3. You will go to the laboratory to provide a blood sample. 4. At the Radiology unit you will get some more tests done according to your gender. 5. Some snacks will be provided to you at the end of your evaluation. The results of your medical evaluation will be provided by doctor who performed the check up. The receptionist will let you know the time and date of the appointment. |

Dr. Paul was born and raised in Culiacan, Sinaloa, supplementing his high school education with a year in Xenia, Ohio, USA where he perfected his English language skills. He returned to Culiacan to attend the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1992. He went on to complete residencies in Internal Medicine and Clinical Cardiology, becoming certified by the Mexican Council of Cardiology in 2004.
He completed a sub-specialty in Hemodynamics and Cardiology Intervention at the Cardiovascular Institute of Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid, Spain, from 2004 to 2006. In February 2006 he was certified by the Mexican Council of Cardiology Interventionists. He regularly attends symposiums worldwide, as well as conducting and publishing studies and giving lectures in his areas of expertise.
Dr. Vázquez has made Mazatlan his home since 2006 where he resides with his wife and 3 children. He enjoys playing tennis and going to the movies in his leisure hours.
Dr. Arturo was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico where he completed all of his primary and secondary schooling culminating in his Medical Degree from the University Autonoma of Guadalajara in 1996. His internship in Tijuana at the Red Cross Hospital and his year of social service in Sonora and Chiapas, gave Dr. Arturo a unique perspective into the health care concerns of his fellow countrymen.
He went on to complete specialties in Internal Medicine (2001), Cardiology (2004), Interventionist Cardiology (2006) in Mexico City while earning his Masters of Science Degree in Health (2006). Dr. Saldana remains active in his professional community as a Board Certified member of the Mexican Council of Cardiology Interventionists among others, and attends and presents seminars in his area of expertise.
With his mother's extended family living in San Diego, California, Dr. Saldaña has not only become proficient in English but has also become a great fan of American football and basketball which he enjoys playing when he is not involved in his other sporting activities or in family activities with his wife and 3 children.
